Recomme
for HPM.
"I would like however to bring to your notice the excellent conduct, consistent good work and final courageous act of Sergeant Porritt whilst at Shaukiwan during heavy shelling. Sergeant Porritt worked day and night rendering first. aid, rescu- ing victims from shell-torn houses, etc., without any regard to his own safety. During the first clash Sergeant forritt was severely wounded in the stomach by a hand grenade. When he was removed to try and obtain first aid he was in the highest of spirits and insisted that he be left alone as there were other people to be attended to. I have consulted L. S. A 103 Hendrick who is now in hospital and he agrees with my remarks regard- ing Sergeant Forritt up to 16th
